This website is designed to keep the Appalachian State University community informed about the Reaffirmation of Accreditation process for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Appalachian State University was first awarded accreditation by SACSCOC in 1942.
Reaffirmation of Accreditation
Our most recent reaffirmation of accreditation was in December 2013.
The Five-Year Interim Report was submitted in 2019 and accepted by SACSCOC as final after a February 2020 substantive change site visit.
In 2018, SACSCOC informed us of a scheduling change and the need to move Appalachian State University to the Class of 2024 for its decennial reaffirmation of accreditation review.
Appalachian State submitted its report for decennial review and Compliance Certification to SACSCOC in September 2023. The on-site review visit was held March 18-21, 2024. The SACSCOC Board of Trustees will meet in December 2024 to make the final determination regarding our institutional accreditation based on the 2023-24 review. This is when App State will have an updated reaffirmation/accreditation date.
